Hily Unveils Enhanced Compatibility Feature To Help Singles Click On A Deeper Level
New compatibility quiz encourages daters to look past initial turn-offs and focus on deeper connections
January 27, 2025, Las Vegas — Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Hily, the dating app championing authenticity in online dating, is unveiling its updated compatibility feature called Icks&Clicks. Designed to help singles explore potential matches beyond profile pictures and minor turn-offs, the new feature embraces the emerging dating trend of stICKing — the act of pursuing romantic connections despite initial “icks” like quirky fashion choices or unconventional selfies.
“People often get the ‘ick’ over trivial things like mirror selfies or photos with friends on dating profiles,” says Dr. Marisa T. Cohen, relationship expert at Hily. “While some ‘icks’ may signal deeper incompatibilities, many are simply superficial quirks that don’t reflect a person’s true character or potential as a partner. The Icks&Clicks feature encourages daters to look beyond these surface-level judgments and focus on meaningful compatibility.”
The original compatibility quiz was developed in 2020 by a clinical psychologist who created 40 scientifically-backed questions addressing relationship orientation, personality traits, lifestyle preferences, and communication styles to help users identify true compatibility with potential matches. It takes less than 5 minutes to take the test.
Now, Hily has reimagined this feature with a fresh twist to make it more engaging and approachable while maintaining its scientific foundation. The first seven updated questions focus on identifying your “icks” (turn-offs) and “clicks” (things you value in a partner). Users can see their “Icks&Clicks” score with potential matches while swiping profile pictures, complete with a breakdown of shared clicks and icks. Conveniently, they can share their compatibility score with matches to spark meaningful conversations. For those seeking a more comprehensive analysis, an additional 33 questions measure full compatibility on vital relationship factors. Subscribers gain access to detailed match percentages and insights from the clinical psychologist.
“We’ve been continuously refining and testing the features most requested by our Gen Z users, who make up 70% of the Hily dating app,” says Alex Pasykov, founder & CEO of Hily. “Communication is key to connecting for Gen Z — and for us, being understood and building trust is crucial. That’s why we’ve updated our Compatibility Feature to prioritize deeper, more meaningful connections right from the start. By introducing Icks&Clicks, we’re helping users look past initial impressions and concentrate on real compatibility, fostering deeper and more lasting connections.”
To celebrate Valentine’s Day, Hily makes seeing which of the initial seven icks and clicks you share with any potential match completely free forever. This initiative aims to help singles embrace dating without pressure and explore deeper connections during what is traditionally known as the “season of love.” Additionally, users with a subscription will be able to check out more in-depth compatibility percentage information.
